I think that this quote means its up to an individual to create their own personality. Parents can only tell you whats right or wrong. They can show you a way of a good personality. but you have to actually choose what characteristics of a personality that you can be yourself by any environment or society. So basically this quote is saying that parents give the help and its up to the person to take it and form things with it. Like my pastor says, "you can lead a horse to the pond, but you can't make him drink it." thats the analogy with parents and kids.  -Chastadee Dortch
